The Big Game III Spokane: A Big Writeup
Posted by
Son of Dorn
Well, a couple months on and the dust has long since settled. The Big Game III was a major success and everyone involved had a blast. Being relatively new to Apocalypse despite a 5 year tenure in 40k, I made the decision to get some help running the game. Now, to say help run the game is a bit of an over statement of my duties. I helped to set up and organize the event, but with the little to no experience I had, I didn't want folks looking to me for answers in how to work the game.

Bardus Tactica: Guest Tactics on Psykers II
Posted by
Unknown
Before I continue with my series on
Librarians and Psychic Powers, I’m going to take a minute to throw
out a little blurb about list building and what my strategy is with
Marines. I focus on building a ‘take all comers’ list with
synergy, redundancy and tactical flexibility in mind. When I look at
adding a unit to my army I want to be able to deploy and use that
unit in a different way every game depending on what kind of list I’m
facing, the terrain, and the mission(s). Good examples of this are
Terminators and Assault Marines. While the competitive viability of
these units is disputed on the Internet, they have exactly what I’m
looking for when it comes to tactical flexibility. They can be
deployed in a transport, deep strike, or go on foot depending on what
the situation calls for.

Bardus Tactica: Guest Tactics on Psychers
Posted by

Hello Internet!
I'm Creed and I have been playing Warhammer 40k for about 6 months.
In that time I've spent countless hours lurking in forums, watching
the hobby/tactics channels on YouTube, and building my Space Wolves
Great Company as well as my 3rd Company of Iron Knights
Space Marines. Like many of you, I have just gotten my hands on the
new Space Marine codex and dove right in to see what cool new updates
we have. While I was studying the new codex and re-reading my
rulebook, a thought occurred to me; what if there are better ways to
use psykers in general and Librarians in particular in 6th
edition?

Let's Read: Sixth Edition Part 1
Posted by
Son of Dorn
The long-awaited and dare I say, overdue, first installment of Let's Read: Sixth Edition is finally here. This installment is gonna be a little short, as I get my bearings in the book and decide the manner in which I'm going to write these installments. And after a brief detour for the 5th edition of the Space Marine codex, I hope to get plugging away at these with a decent pace.

Let's Read 6th: An Introduction
Posted by
Son of Dorn
In this series of articles, I'll be going through the Warhammer 40,000 sixth edition rulebook section by section and analyzing it. I'll be highlighting changes from 5th edition, synergies between rules that you may not have noticed, or anything else that stands out as interesting as I go along. Hopefully, together we gain a better understanding of the rules and the game. Look forward to the first article soon.

FAQ Imminent?

| This surfaced in an update made available yesterday. |
With a clarification to the transport rule in the digital version of Codex Necrons, it seems a new FAQ could be on the way. We can now see that units embarked in a Night Scythe that is destroyed now take no damage. This change appeared yesterday, but has yet to work it's way to the FAQ. Keep an eye out for updates, soon.

Special Ops: Killzone - Your Army Featured!
Posted by
Son of Dorn
It's that time, again. Hot on the heels of a new addition come the updated rules for Spacial Ops: Killzone along with a chance to have your army featured! How about that? Look through the fresh rules and see your own kill team looking back at ya. I've always been a fan of the set, especially after Games Workshop chose to, in my opinion, over simplify the rules. Here's a set based on 2nd and the more recent 4th edition iterations that plays very tight and is a natural lead in to some great narrative skirmishes. So, while I've been a fan for some time, I'll allow Big Jim (its creator) to speak for those of you who are just hearing about this.

The Mystery of the Black Templars
Posted by
Son of Dorn
Hey, everyone. A short while back, I did a post on my speculations for the future of Psychic Powers and Warlord Traits. After the apparent confirmation with recent rumors, I thought it was safe to make another attempt at farseeing the future of 40k. So come along with me while we look at the mystery of the Black Templars.

These images appear to be leaked from the new White Dwarf. They're courtesy of an anonymous source, but if they're legitimate, we're in for a freakin amazing new starter box. The quality of these appears to be a drastic improvement over the Assault on Black Reach set. Dark Vengeance is coming!

Starter box on August 25

A tantalizing new trailer made a brief appearance in Games Workshop's YouTube channel last night. It was only available very briefly before it was locked down, but it's contents were seen by several people. What it contained was approximately 38 seconds of Dark Angels artwork, followed by the date you see above. And while the video is set to private now, some screen caps were still taken in the brief time it was active.

Amazingly, the whole release schedule for 2013 showed up today. There are many exciting new things in store. I've taken the liberty of skimming the list and providing some conjectures as to what these releases may bring along with them.

The Great FAQ Challenge!
Posted by
Son of Dorn
I have for you today, an exciting proposal. We know that new FAQ's for 6th edition are on their way to us, so why not lend Games Workshop a helping hand? I'd like to use the comments section of this article to collect questions that you have about 6th edition. These can be ANYTHING you're confused about: clarifications, requests for more examples, codex questions, allies questions, anything that's on your mind!

6th Impressions: Warlord Traits/Psychic Powers - Update 7/23
Posted by
Son of Dorn
Two of the bigger points of contention I've seen/heard about right now are Warlord Traits and Psychic Powers. After Wound Allocation (which I'm still formulating an opinion on) these seem to crop up the most in lists of complaints. I thought I'd take a moment to describe where I believe GW will be taking these and why they're awesome.

Micro Update
Posted by
Son of Dorn
Well, it's official. The 5th edition rulebook has been pulled from Games Workshop's website. It's my understanding that this is commonly done about 30 days before the newer version of the product is released. So we're looking at a potential release date of June 30th. How about that? That has to mean that the book has already been printed. Hopefully a PDF of it appears online at some point, as I'm flat broke and have no other way to read it. Stupid College....

Super Size Update!
Well. Where to begin? It's been over 3 months since my last consistent series of updates. What have I been doing? Well, I've moved into a new place, started a new quarter of school, and been learning what the terrible-2's are all about. Mind you the latter portion is about my son and not a euphemism for heinous diarrhea. Silliness aside, that's left me quite busy! Well, I'm still swamped with school work, but I figured I'd start updating again just to preserve my sanity. I figured I'd give one massive news update to cover all the big stuff and where I'm going, then work on churning out new content when I'm able. So, onto the news...
