List Preview Part 2

So, we've seen the fast half of what I feel to be the viable/interesting units offered for Space Marines in IA: Apocalypse Second Edition in yesterday's article. Now I'd like to take a look at some of the heavier hitting units that are available and see what they're capable of. Here's a quick list designed to capitalize on a slower moving, heavier hitting force.

2000 Pts - Codex: Space Marines Roster - Imperial Armor Apocalypse 2nd Ed. 2000 Heavy

9 Tactical Squad, Plasma gun, Lascannon

Troops: Tactical Squad
   9 Tactical Squad, Flamer, Lascannon

      1 Razorback, Hunter-killer Missile
Troops: Scout Squad
4 Scout Squad, 2x Bolt Pistol + CCW, 2x Shotgun
      1 Sergeant, Combi-Meltagun, Power Fist
Elite: Space Marine Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought (IA)
1 Space Marine Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought (IA), Heavy Conversion Beamer
Elite: Terminator Squad
8 Terminator Squad, Chain Fist x2, Cyclone Missile Launcher
      1 Sergeant
Heavy Support: Land Raider Achilles (IA)
   1 Land Raider Achilles (IA)
Heavy Support: Space Marine Contemptor Mortis Pattern Dreadnought (IA)
1 Space Marine Contemptor Mortis Pattern Dreadnought (IA), Kheres Assault Cannon (x2), Cyclone Missile Launcher

So, we've got the Land Raider Achilles and 2 Contemptor Dreadnoughts. The Achilles hides the Scout squad inside to make it scoring and works its way up the field hitting infantry with its cannon or armor with its Multi-meltas. The Terminators march their way up the board (with Bolter Drill) and provide a distraction for the Achilles and the Contemptors, who would follow along with the rest. The Tactical squads combat squad, with the Lascannons hanging in the back to capture objectives in the deployment area and the others can move up to support the forward push. I understand there's a large lack of anti-tank in the list, but I'd like to see just how useful the 'indestructable' Land Raider can be. What are your thoughts?

  1. This list looks super heavy...and I like it a lot. It plays to the strengths of C:SM with High defense and what looks like a fair amount of heavy shooing. Wouldn't want to be caught between the Mortis and those termies thats for sure
